Every quarter, GPT donates a percentage of our proceeds to an organization selected by two members of our team. This quarter Crystal (Greenwood Physical Therapist) and Carolyn (Ravenna Financial Coordinator) have chosen Rainier Scholars to receive our support!
We chose Rainier Scholars as this quarter’s charity because we believe in the power of education. The access and power of education provide immeasurable opportunities to many people’s lives. Education increases an individual’s chance of economic self-sufficiency and pathways to positions of leadership. However, there is unequal access to education, especially amongst low-income, students of color. The shortage of representation of this population in college campuses and positions of leadership reveal the lack of foundation that allows for equal opportunity for these students.
Rainier Scholars is designed to increase college graduation rate and empower new generations of leaders to reflect upon the diversity of the Seattle community. They provide academic preparation, leadership development and personalized support for hard-working, low-income students of color. By supporting this organization, we can help ensure better representation of leaders of today, as well as future generations.
